Limited Space #2 Reflections Dichotomy
These two sculptures represent the dichotomy of nature v. city habitat.

Materials: Gravestone rubbing paper with wax drawn trees, dipped in dye, waxed and applied to box. Photographic overlay is from MN winter tree photo's Xeroxed on dress making pattern paper, wax coated, heated and applied onto the wax resist papers creating a double image. Birds are carved from drift wood.
Front Side: Representing the natural habitat, tree images and the bird border along the top of the box reflect each other from the center and are also reflected as if in water on the bottom.
Back Side: Represents the city/industrial habitat, with birds resting on TV antennas and window sills. The wax resist paper is a city scape and the pattern paper overlay is antennas and perching birds. A mirror for a window reflects the viewer’s image; cause and effect.
